I had been singing in the Phoenix Arizona area for a few years and had trained a couple of borrowed horses to carry me while I played guitar and sang cowboy songs in parades around the area.  Wanting our own horses Peggy and I moved to Cave Creek, AZ.  Now we owned horse property so we could keep our critters in our own back yard.  In December of  1995 the first horse we bought was Steel.  He was 8 an eight year old gray quarter horse straight from the LXBar Ranch in the Tonto National Forest.  It took me a while to train him but soon we were entertaining at Merv  Griffin's Wickenburg Inn Dude Ranch.  During our 5 years there we also began doing shows for conventions, schools, libraries, nursing homes and private parties.  When the Wickenburg Inn Job ended we began performing for the City of Scottsdale in the Oldtown District.  As the years past I realized that with our busy schedule by the time Steel turned 20 it would be time to let him retire.  On Super Bowl Sunday, January 26, 2003 we purchased and picked up the awesome handsome black and white paint Dusty.  He needed breaking, training and lots of love and attention.  By mid summer he was ready for his first short performances and he has grown into a real star since then.

I could go for hours of how both of these partners have pleased audiences in Arizona, New Mexico and California.  The young and old fall in love with them whenever they enter the room.

Steel got his name because when he was young
his color was steel gray.

Dusty got his name because he loves to roll in the dirt
and be dusty.
